EDDIE AND TRACEY'S 'MARRIAGE' ALREADY OVER: Couple decides not to legalize union Stateside following Bora Bora ceremony.

*Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds have decided not to move forward with a legal wedding ceremony to follow their "symbolic" exchange of vows in Bora Bora because the couple has called it quits.

In a statement released through his rep, Murphy said: "After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forego having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further.

"While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends."

The breakup comes nearly two weeks after the couple went through the motions in a lavish New Year's ceremony on the French Polynesian island. Reps for the couple had acknowledged that the ceremony, having taken place outside the country, was not legally binding, but that the couple would be making it official upon their return to the States.
